Activated Carbon is used to remove chlorine and to improve the taste and smell of water by removing organic matter from water. Activated carbon will also remove remove pesticides, hydrogen sulfide (rotten egg smell and light tannins from water. Since all carbon beds and carbon filters promote bacteria growth, it is best to follow this unit with an
ultraviolet sterilizer if you are concerned about bacteria in drinking water. Installation can be done by any plumber or do it yourselfer. Requires a drain line during backwash. Can also be fitted with a manual valve that you can connect a hose and run it outside or to a drain only when backwashing is desired.
Features include a Fleck 5600 filter valve, 3/4 inch plastic yokes, polyglass tank, basket distributor, activated carbon media and gravel bed.
